I’m Bradford Kimball!

I’m running for re-election to Brookline Town Meeting in Precinct 1.

I’m thrilled to be running for re-election to Town Meeting in Precinct 1! I’m a first-year student at Harvard and I’ve lived in Precinct 1 for my entire life— I care tremendously about this neighborhood and want to give back to the neighborhood that has given me so much.

On Town Meeting, I have and will continue to focus on sustainability: fiscal, housing, and environmental sustainability. Our decision making in Brookline should be thoughtful and careful, and I am committed to ensuring that our decisions are sustainable in the long-term. Despite being a full-time student, I have a 98.3% attendance record at Town Meeting. When I first ran for office, I walked the entire precinct and knocked on hundreds of doors. I’ve started to do this again, and it is incredibly important for me to hear directly from the voters one on one.

I’m running for re-election to bring a thoughtful and measured voice to Town Meeting. Over the last five years, I have been heavily involved in our community. I was the campaign manager for the successful “No on 1” campaign in 2021. I also was an intern in the State House for two years. Two summers ago, I served as a biomanufacturing policy advisor for Rep. Jake Auchincloss, where I learned the value of coordinating municipal, state, and federal agencies to promote important goals.

On Town Meeting, I will focus on two main issues besides sustainability: connecting residents with Town Meeting and ensuring that Brookline is coordinating with state agencies to pursue our goals. As a student, education and the environment are major priorities of mine. I am committed to supporting Brookline’s schools. I was proud to help Rep. Vitolo’s efforts to promote new eco-friendly building codes in Brookline, and I want to continue focusing on environmental issues. Brookline needs to be a leader when it comes to climate change.

I am so excited to be running, and I ask for your vote on May 6th.

Thank you,

Bradford Kimball

Priorities

Fiscal Sustainability:

Brookline is in a budget crunch, and our families are feeling the brunt of the cost through rising property taxes and overrides. I will advocate for responsible and thoughtful spending. I will also push Brookline to look for new revenue streams, to minimize budget cuts when possible.

Environment:

Brookline has two roles to play when it comes to the climate: minimizing our own carbon footprint and setting precedents for eco-friendly policies in Massachusetts and the nation. We need to make it easier for Brookline residents to electrify, and I’ll push to pass Warrant Articles that make it easier for residents to install electric vehicle chargers, for example, so that we can continue to work towards our net-zero goal.

Education:

As a student, I bring a new perspective on education to Town Meeting. The pride of Brookline is its schools. We need to do everything possible to ensure that our schools are well-funded, well-run, and well-maintained. This starts in the Brookline’s budget, which Town Meeting controls. We need to give Brookline Schools the resources they need, but there is no easy way to fund these projects. I’m open to exploring various funding avenues, but we need to be responsible with how we spend.

St. Mary’s Business District

After a few years of struggle with the pandemic, I am thrilled to see the success of the St. Mary’s Business District, and will do my best to make that continue. I will make sure that we keep that success going— I’ll focus on the issues to keep our community businesses thriving, such as cleanliness, trash pickup, and timely responses to zoning requests.
